Emily's Immaculate Collection
Hey everyone. I was thinking it would be nice to get a list going of Emily's favorite songs. That way I could burn a cd to keep around for those times when thinking about her gets kind of hard (usually in the car). Emily was so cheerful, so most of the songs I think of when I think of her are really upbeat and happy. This cd would give a real pick-me-up when it's most needed. I know Emily loved Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Green Day from way back in the day (along with 5ive). Katie's also told me one of her favorite dancing songs was Journey - Don't Stop Believing. If you know any songs she really loved or have a great memory of with her, just leave a comment on this post. When I get enough to make a cd I'll let you all know the list so you can either burn your own or I can make a copy to send to you. Thanks in advance for your help!

What a great idea. I basically live listening to her songs since I now own all of her CD's. One of the songs she was obsessed with recently is Three 6 Mafia's "Chickenhead". The lyrics are HILARIOUS - especially when the girl starts rapping. Let me give you a sample - "your breath smells like some THUNDER!" :-)
P.S. We have the whole Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack memorized and would sing it to each other every Christmas/Easter/ALL THE TIME!
P.P.S There are way too many songs that keep popping into my head - I'll put more later!!

Correction - The Chickenhead song is actually by Project Pat. Em had it labelled wrong in her iPod.

2 songs that come to mind are salt and peppa's "shoop" and stevie wonder "for once in my life". She knew all of the lyrics to shoop and loved to sing kereoke to it. I remember hearing stories of Emily always singing that song at TOTS. I know she loved the stevie wonder song, because she thought it was really uplifting. One year at an antioch meeting, she gave a talk about things in her life and she chose the stevie wonder song as her theme song. Also, I know that Emily loved the Dixie Chicks song, "cowboy take me away." (I'm pretty sure it was her favorite Dixie Chicks song) She introduced me to that song and the lyrics are even more meaningful to me now. Also, even though it isn't a song Em loooooooooved dane cook. A few skits that come to mind are kool aid, car accident and the Bk lounge. I really like the CD idea :o)

So many songs...
Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Rait (KATE: Emily would always mention you're obsession with this song because of the end 'Turn around bright eyes')
She loved REM, so deft one of his songs. What's the one that everyone screws up the lyrics to? Kate help me out, I know you know what I'm talking about.
Lightning Crashes - Live
Motorcycle Drive By - Third Eye Blind
I would throw a Dane Cook skit on there, like the Burger King one (sweet sauce all over my body).
Soccer Practice by Gay Pimp - Our intramural soccer team (Team Skkkrt) would pump up to this before every game...
Ben Folds Five - Kate
Something by Bjork - All so quiet
Bon Jovi - Living on a Prayer (JERSEYYYY)
Bubba Sparxxx - Ugly (reminds her of Alicia dancing on top of refrigerators)
Anything Lil Kim - (The Jump Off) she was her role model haha
The Darkness - I believe in a thing called love
Dashboard Confessional - Hands Down
Journey - Don't Stop Believing
Radiohead - High and Dry
Sir Mix Alot - I like big butts (she loved her butt)

I think you were thinking of "the sidewinder sleeps tonight" by REM. The lyrics say call me when you wake her up, but I've heard people who thought it was call me in jamaica...
And that is HILARIOUS that she told you about the part in Total Eclipse of the Heart. We laughed about that a bunch of times!
I've been thinking alot about music and the memories we've had together listening to them. I've compliled a list of songs and memories, but it seems like I think of new ones everyday. It will be too long to post as a comment so I think I'll write a whole blog entry about it soon.
