Gone but not forgotten

Excerpt from Emily's Phi Sigma Pi Tripod Scholarship Application, March 2006:
Fellowship is the bond that ties all brothers. It is how we take the diverse, unique individuals who teach us in scholarship, inspire us through service and leadership and unify us all as one organization of brothers who love and support one another. During my time as a brother I have tried to get involved in as many fellowship events as possible. I have played every intramural sport we have offered (co-ed) including ones that are not my forte (*cough*softball*cough*). I spend hours every week with brothers yet I still get excited just for weekly meetings when we all get to be together in one room and hear about everyone’s week during “brothers of the week”. There are the theme parties, which I always tap my best creative juices for, but it’s more than that. It’s the ICR trips squeezing seventeen of your pledge brothers into one hotel room, it’s going camping on a Thursday night in winter because of fluke Blacksburg weather in the 60s, it is going over to TVC to watch your favorite TV shows even though you could watch it from your own apartment… but let’s face it, who wants to turn down great company? It’s the Friday afternoon events that face off old brothers and new brothers in kickball, it’s realizing all of a sudden you are on the old brothers team and you have half of the fraternity below you bustling with enthusiasm which revives your own. I can’t say that I have "impacted” the bonds of brotherhood, instead I have embraced them and tried to relish every moment during these events. These are the times that I will fondly reflect back on once I’ve graduated, the thousands of digital pictures sitting in folders on my computer, and will be the wrinkles around my eyes and mouth when I get older from so many laughs and smiles with all of you, my brothers.

Emily's love for her PSP brothers was unquestioned. While she may not have the chance to grow old and get those wrinkles herself, the rest of us left behind surely will from the countless memories of our time with her.
