Daisies for Emily
I am still amazed at how Emily continues to influence people. My cousin Joanne has an annual brunch for all the women cousins. This year my sister Mary Beth and Joanne came up with a "helping people" theme in honor of Emily. Everyone brought summer clothes to donate to the Dominican Republic. There is a container going down from Long Valley this month so we can add these clothes to the container.
At the brunch many shared about charities they are active in. My cousin Susan's 9 y/o daughter Taylor sold her toys at a flea market and donated the $200 she made to a man's dog rescue program which is having financial problems. Several others have walked in Walk-a-thons for various causes. There are so many volunteer activities.
But as a group we decided to name our annual gathering "Daisies for Emily". I am so moved that we will be honoring Emily this way. Even though we all do volunteer activities, by calling the group this name means that all the little cousins as they grow up will remember that they had a cousin named Emily and that she is very loved.
